About Greensleeves

Greensleeves Homes Trust is an award-winning care provider for older people in its residential, dementia and nursing homes across England. The group delivers 24-hour care across 27 homes in England.
The charity was created in 1997 when the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service (“WRVS”) decided to transfer the ownership and management of its care homes to an independent organisation. The newly formed charity took its name from the green arm bands (or sleeves) worn by WRVS volunteers during World War II.

Working with Allia C&C

At the time of its first bond issue, Greensleeves was the first charitable care home provider to raise finance through this type of listed bond, which can be sold to individuals as well as institutional investors.

The transaction was also a milestone for RCB as it was the largest series of bonds it had issued at that time, and remains the joint largest transaction completed to this day.

Paul Newman, Chief Executive of Greensleeves Care, said: “We were delighted to be part of the largest RCB issue. The money will be put to immediate use to buy and develop new homes and sites as we invest in our portfolio and our ability to increase the number of older people who benefit from our award-winning care.”

A second issue was completed in 2020 which raised a further £25m for Greensleeves. Once again, the bonds were well-received by investors with the offer closing early due to oversubscription. The issue was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic, which had raised awareness of the need for high quality social care in the UK.
